Changes have been made to our daily operating procedures.  We are happy to announce that we are no longer requiring patients to call the office upon their arrival for their appointment.  Patients may enter the office and the COVID-19 screening will be done inside, along with a temperature check.  Masks are still required in all medical facilities for all individuals regardless of vaccination status, per Governor Kate Brown's mandate.  We kindly ask that you follow the 6 feet social distancing within the office.  If you are feeling ill with any flu like symptoms such as running a fever, experiencing a cough, sore throat, shortness of breath or loss of taste or smell, please reschedule your appointment and contact your physician.  

Please note: Unless necessary, we are still only allowing the patient in the treatment area at this time.  

As always, the health and safety of our patients and staff continues to be of utmost importance.  We appreciate the support and cooperation of our patients during these times, and look forward to the day when things can be fully back to normal.

UPDATE:  

We are pleased to announce that Governor Brown has lifted the executive order, and is allowing for elective dental treatment to begin as of May 4, 2020.

At this time we will have limited office hours for appointments, however administrative staff will be available Monday-Thursday 8:00am-4:00pm, and Friday 8:00am-2:00pm.

If you reach the answering machine during these hours, we are assisting another patient.  Your call is very important to us, please leave a message and we will return your call as soon as possible.  In order to maintain the social distancing guideline of 6 feet apart, our office doors will remain locked at all times.  Therefore, upon arrival for your scheduled appointment, we are asking patients to please call the office to let us know you've arrived.   A team member will be out to do a short COVID-19 questionnaire screening and temperature check. We will ask you to remain in your car until we are ready to bring you back into the treatment area.  Please be advised, that ONLY the patient will be allowed in the office unless necessary (i.e interpreter, elderly or disabled patient needing additional assistance). NOTE:  If you are unable to call the office upon arrival, please call our office prior to your appointment to make other arrangements.   

These new procedures will remain in effect until further notice.

To our valued patients:

Dr. Yang and the entire staff of Northwest Dental Group have always been committed to strict sterilization protocol for the health and safety of our patients and staff. However, in light of the recent outbreak of the Corona virus (COVID-19), we would like to take this opportunity to advise our patients of additional measures which we are implementing to further protect our patients and community members.

  • We are asking patients who have a fever, cough, sore throat, shortness of breath, sneezing or any other flu-like symptoms to kindly reschedule your dental appointment, and contact your physician. This protocol also applies if you have had any of these symptoms in the last 48 hours or have traveled outside the United States in the last two weeks to an area affected by COVID-19. This currently includes China, Hong Kong, Iran, Italy, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, or Vietnam. We advise you to check the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention website for the most current updates on the affected countries, as well as for the most current information on the COVID-19 virus. We will be waiving the late cancellation fee until further notice.
  • Our staff members have also been instructed to stay home as well should they develop any of these symptoms. Know that there could be disruptions to our schedule due to this policy and therefore we are asking for your patience should this happen.
  • We have always had hand sanitizer available to our patients in the waiting area, and we kindly ask that you please use it upon arriving for your appointment. Hand washing and the use of hand sanitizer (at least 60% alcohol) is the best combatant against the spread of COVID-19.
  • We understand that this is also allergy season. If you do need to sneeze, please use the provided tissues, discard immediately in the trash, and use the hand sanitizer. As a matter of precaution, we would advise to carry these items (tissues, hand sanitizer) with you while out in the community and use after touching any door handles, shopping carts or any other high touch areas.
  • We will continue to disinfect the counters, pens, door handles, chairs, remote control for the TV, and water cooler as well as any other high touch areas and objects in our waiting area with disinfectant wipes and will continue to do so with even more frequency.

   

It is of the utmost importance that we all are committed to helping each other stay healthy. By following the guidelines set forth by the Centers for Disease Control, we will be able to help stop the spread of this  virus and many others.

    Jonathan Yang
    DDS
    Dentist

    Dr. Jonathan Yang grew up in Portland, Oregon and attended Oregon State University, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology. He went on to attend Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tennessee where he received his Doctorate of Dental Surgery in 2000.

    Remembering the beauty of Central Oregon from childhood family vacations, Dr. Yang (Or, as he prefers, Dr. Jonathan) embraced the opportunity and accepted a position with Redmond Dental Group to begin his dental career. Soon, he knew he wanted to plant roots in Central Oregon. In 2004, Dr. Jonathan acquired his current practice and continues to enjoy being a practice owner.

    “Why La Pine?” is a question Dr. Jonathan is often asked. He enjoys the very personal connections that a small town offers, and feels that he can make a positive and lasting impact within the community. This small (but growing!) town also reminded him of the farming community in Vietnam where he was born – and the privilege of serving here in La Pine has kept him humble. Dr. Jonathan grew up in modest circumstances, and he believes this has aided his perspective in understanding the needs of patients from varying social and economic backgrounds.

    Dr. Jonathan and his wife, Julie (Office Director) have been married for 19 years.  Together they have two children, Alexa and Griffin. Their family is completed with a chocolate Labradoodle named Murphy who accompanies them on their adventures. As a family, they find joy in biking, hiking, skiing, swimming, kayaking or just relaxing at home. They also enjoy RVing and riding ATVs along the coast, or exploring National Parks during the summer. When not in the office or with his family, Dr. Jonathan can be found golfing and fishing with friends.

    Dr. Jonathan is known for his gentle and caring approach to dentistry, as well as his excellent clinical skills. He believes the highest compliment is the confidence his patients place in his practice by the high volume of patient referrals he receives. The success of his practice is a direct result of these referrals, and Dr. Jonathan is honored and grateful for the privilege to not only provide high-quality care to his existing patients, but to their family and friends as well. To maintain your trust in him and for his own personal and professional growth, Dr. Jonathan will always strive to remain current in his field, passionately pursue advanced dental technique training, and stay informed of the latest dental research.

    Bridging modern technology and his 22 plus years of experience, Dr. Jonathan continues to be enthusiastic about restoring and helping his patients maintain their beautiful smiles. He looks forward to serving the amazing people of La Pine and Central Oregon for many years to come, and hopes to continue exceeding expectations in his practice.

  • Sandy L.
    Hygienist

    Sandy was born in Minnesota and has lived in Hawaii, California, and Washington. She started her career in dentistry as a dental assistant in Escondido, Calif, where she worked for 22 years until life circumstances brought her to La Pine.


    It was at this time she decided to further her career and become a hygienist. Sandy obtained her Associates of Arts degree at Central Oregon Community College, and went on to obtain her Bachelor of Science degree in Dental Hygiene from OIT in 2007. Sandy has been with Northwest Dental Group since May 2007. Sandy has 2 children, Megan and Glenn, and 4 grandchildren. In her spare time, Sandy enjoys being outdoors, reading, cooking, listening to good music and spending as much time as possible with her family and friends. She looks forward to living and working in La Pine and at Northwest Dental Group for many years to come.

  • Bekah M.
    Hygienist

    Bekah received her bachelor’s degree in Dental Hygiene from OHSU in 1985. Prior to moving to Central Oregon and joining the Northwest Dental Group team in September 2021, she lived in the Willamette Valley.
    Bekah has worked in both pediatric and general dentist practices and takes pride in a gentle touch while being thorough and meticulous. One of her favorite parts of her job is being able to encourage and educate her patients. 
    When not at work, Bekah and her husband, Bob enjoy their three dogs, traveling, working on home projects, and seeing their grown children and grandchildren whenever possible. 

  • Ashley R.
    Front Office/Dental Assistant, EFDA

    Ashley was born and raised in Central Oregon and became interested in dentistry in her junior year of high school. She has worked for Northwest Dental Group for 4 years as a expanded functions dental assistant and has recently transitioned to the front desk where she can further her knowledge in the dental field.  She enjoys being a part of a team, working with patients of all ages to assist with their dental needs. Ashley especially enjoys seeing patients become more confident and happy with their smile. In her off-hours, you can find Ashley hunting or fishing with her fiance' Destry or spending time with their 3 dogs.

  • Kindra S.
    Dental Assistant, EFDA

    Kindra was born and raised in Central Oregon and graduated from La Pine High School in 2015. She began her dental assisting career with Northwest Dental Group in July 2021 and recently received her Expanded Functions certificate. Having been self conscience of her teeth growing up, Kindra now enjoys being able to help patients feel more confident and love their smile when they leave the office.
    As a family with her husband, Gerald and their daughter Harlee they enjoy going to the Oregon Coast and riding ATV’s. When not at work, you can find Kindra baking and spending time with her family and friends whenever possible. 

  • Mary A.
    Dental Assistant, EFDA

    Mary grew up in Pleasant Hill, Oregon and moved to central Oregon with her husband and two kids in 2013.

    She started her career in dentistry as a receptionist in 2006 and the spark was lit for fueling her passion for patient care and comfort.  She decided to further her education and obtained her EFDA certification and began her career in dental assisting.  With an extensive background in oral surgery and cosmetic dentistry, Mary is well versed in dental procedures and patient education.

    When not at work, Mary and her family indulge in all the outdoor activities central Oregon has to offer, including hiking with the dogs, fishing, hunting, snow shoeing and paddle boarding.

  • Lisa J.
    Lead Office Administrator

    Lisa has been with Northwest Dental Group for nearly 22 years.  Currently, she oversees the daily operations of the practice as our Lead Office Administrator.  Although her position encompasses  many roles, her focus is on processing dental claims/payments and is our patient financial coordinator.  She loves working on behalf of the patient to ensure that their dental insurance claims are being paid properly.  Often times, this means writing narratives and 'fighting' with the insurance company.  Call her crazy, but this is actually fun for her, and especially satisfying if the claim is eventually paid.  She and her husband Carson have lived in La Pine for nearly 42 years and they have one daughter, Erica.   When not at the office, Lisa spends her off hours hiking, exercising and enjoying the great outdoors as well as hanging out with family and friends as much as possible.

  • Rachel L.
    Patient Coordinator

    Rachel was born and raised northwest of Chicago, in the suburbs of Illinois. She became a member of the Northwest Dental Group team in July 2021 and is loving her recent transition into the dental field. Rachel's  favorite part of the job is seeing patients who arrive nervous for their procedures and then leave relaxed and relieved. 
    Rachel and her high school sweetheart, Jack moved to Bend together in 2011 and recently got married. The newlyweds have one cat and two dogs and have recently expanded their family becoming parents last year. Outside of work, Rachel loves traveling, cooking, reading, and indulging her creative side with crafts.
